Lesson1

1 - I will never turn my back on the ocean

Being prepared for what's coming is important in recovery, just as it is in the ocean. The ocean is powerful, as is the disease of addiction. We are constantly reminded of that power when we see a fellow recovery person return to addiction after a period of sobriety or abstinence. To be succesful in recovery it is neccesary to face our challenges squarely, and to face ourselves.
Looking forward, rather than back, we can embrace our hopes and dreams as individuals. Also inherent in this particular lesson is that as people on a journey of recovery, we will not turn our backs on whatever program we are involved with which is helping us maintain abstinence from alcohol and drugs.
